Jenel Copilau
the president of D.C. Olt:
"A politician that doesn't govern is like a sterile man!"

- You've joined the People's Party to govern, didn't you?
- No. I don't think this kind of choice can be made out of opportunity. When you believe in an idea, you fall in love with it, you protect it like you would your own children. But let's be honest: a politician's destiny is power. Without governing, a politician is a loser. He is like a sterile man… It is unfair that only two parties get to split the power because the third is nonexistent or extremist. Yes, I want to get the power, the people's party wants the power - we know how many good things we can do with it! With hyped speeches you can make people dizzy but history won't remember you. History remembers the people that take action, the capable people.

- How do you receive the PRM attacks?
- Smiling. Any attack is a sign of fear. Let them attack, we will wave at them from the positions an isolated party can never reach…

- Do the Olt people still have heart for politics?
- (Laughing) Oh mother, and in such a way! We are full of thoughts and opinions! We are just waiting for the right party. The people have been absent lately: it is obvious that the political scene is old and crowded. The people need new things, fresh things, invigorating things.

- Is the People's Party fresh enough?
- Certainly! We are promoting eternal values - homeland, social solidarity, faith - with new, clean, common sense and decent means. The people need common sense politicians like breathable air.

- Isn't Corneliu Ciontu a little "sheepish"? Doesn't he have too much common sense?
- You say that because you are used to vulgar or agitated politicians that show off and do idle talk. You won't find anything like that in Europe. They have "sheepish" people, patient, tactful and diplomacy people. That is how Romania will be in the following elections.

- What is more important? Being Romanian or being European?
- Don't mind me for saying this, but this is an uninspired question. These are things that go together. It's wonderful being a Romanian, it's great being an European. Only demagogues try to build a wall between ourselves as Romanian and ourselves as Europeans.

- Honestly: when was the last time you went to church?
- The People's Party, that promotes the Christian values, is on the verge of birth. Before I went to the Congress in Bucharest, I went to a small Olt church to pray for its future.
